About Us Brazil Mission Finances Update Letter Hawaii Mission Home Julia & JoAna

Brazil

We had great 3 weeks in Brazil. The time sure went fast but we had enough time to enjoy family and friends, thank God! Julia and JoAna are even speaking full sentences in Portuguese and they sure understand everything I say. Matthew’s Portuguese has also got SO MUCH better that even my brother noticed and commented. Nothing like being immersed in the culture to learn a language.

We had plans to go to Campinas, Jundiai and Botucatu but ended up staying in Jau all the time. That’s where my parents live. The main reason for that is because none of us had a driver’s license valid in Brazil. We finally got one but by then it was almost time to come back home. Although we had made plans to travel I believe God wanted us to stay in Jau this time and we trust His plans to be perfect, not ours!

One of the big blessing that came out of it was that I finished my dental treatment there and my dad even paid for it. Thanks dad and Dad! I could also see an eye doctor and get a new pair of glasses made which my mom paid for. Thanks Mom! Matthew was able to do an MRI also for free thanks to good friends from Botucatu that came to pick us up and brought us back from the exam (1h drive each way from one city to the other). Thanks Reginaldo, Joelma, Joao and Silvia.

We were spoiled to death as you can see not to mention all the good food at my parent’s house and my sister’s house. And to top it all off the outstanding espresso with “pao de queijo” at my brother’s Video and Café shop. Thank you Dad, Mom, Elton, Lu, Fer, Ana, Ale and Valeria for all the practical love bestowed upon us. You all made us feel very loved and special.

It is almost winter in Brazil now so it was cold, especially for us who are used to Hawaiian winter. So we all ended up sick and Julia and Matthew got the worst of it and are both on antibiotics still recovering.

But we all came home safely with a joyful and thankful heart. It’s so good to spend time with friends and family that you don’t see often. We thank God for the amazing time and all the blessings that we received. And we thank Him for the safe trip back home. It is also good to be home. We know that everything good comes from the Lord.

Now, to make this trip even more remarkable Brazil could win the World Cup, huh?? VAI BRASIL!!

Enjoy the pictures!!
 Much love!
